Peer Abuse & Sexual Harassment Prevention Program
A Workplace Violence Component
What is Peer Abuse? You know it, recognize it, and have probably been a victim of it at one point or another in your life – or perhaps been the abuser. Peer abuse is Bullying. This presentation addresses the issue of peer abuse in the workplace and an employee’s right to be safe from being a victim of this type abuse. We combine the program with sexual harassment awareness because sexual harassment is just another form of peer abuse. However the ramifications of sexual harassment to the employer can be costly. The information provided addresses awareness, assessment and response to the ever present issue of peer abuse in both the workplace and can be targeted to the school environment. Focus is on the various types of threats, the seriousness of threatening behaviors in the workplace setting, daily conflicts and the behaviors, specifically as it relates to employees, supervisors and other management personnel in the workplace. This program attempts to empower a person to build on their self worth and offers tools to help cope with the pressures people face in the work setting. This program is also a part of our school violence prevention package and is targeted at the middle school population but can be tailored to fit other grade levels.
